Words come with responsibility

I decided to choose this name for my post because I was thinking about the Danish cartoons that have become infamous. I don't really want to say anything else about this exept that the whole discussion seems to be lost.

Life in China is getting back on track after few weeks on the road. I told you that I got few weeks of because of the Chinese New Year (spring festival). I decided to go to South of China and then Vietnam. I don't recommend to anyone to go there. The thing is though it's a beautiful country with pretty buildings and good weather my experience is that the people is so aggressive. We either saw or became part of a fight every day (and sometime physical). After just few days I had had it with that country but since we had already bought a ticket south I went along. The south was better but not good.

I was very happy when we came home to China with all the nice people. We had a break for one more week where I continued with my reading and I have read quite a lot (for me) in the last half year. For example I have read 3 of the Booker-award nominee along with Bob Dylans biography, Sherlock Holmes and I'm currently reading A Random Walk Down Wall Street. I try to mix it up a little.

The first teaching week finished yesterday. I have asked to go early so I have to make up all my classes before end of May. For that reason I'll be extremely busy next month. I will have to make up 6 weeks (4 weeks for going early and 2 since my parents are coming to China). I also made teaching plans for next 10 classes so I'm not going to wake up an hour before my first class of the week to plan the whole week.

Well I hope you all are happy and healthy.

Hasta luego,
ښlli

Escape from the library...

I have broken free from the clutches of the library for a brief time so that I might write a brief blog detailing my life in recent months. I couldn't believe it when I realized no one has blogged since 4 January...it seems like I was just reading those new posts from Adam and Ulli.

I'm busy this semester finishing up my Masters in Accountancy, Specialization in Taxation (yeah, it won't get you a lot of babes) and studying hard for the CPA exam. In addition, we're trying to wrap up our final wedding plans as the date is only 4 1/2 months off now. Seemed like we had years, and now it's nearly here. So, I spend most of my time with my nose in a book (and not any good ones, at that).

A few things on the football front. I would like to pay quick tribute to Georgie Best. Whether you were a United fan or not, the footage of some of the moves Best pulled is truly amazing. Colin Hay's fitting tribute, "My Brilliant Feat," along with the associated video on iTunes are a must see (if you don't have iTunes, try to get a bootleg copy).

Second, doesn't Keano look great in the hoops? All the talk in the Irish Independent was that he would go to Spain, but I just think they didn't want to get their hopes up. For someone that dreamed of playing for Celtic as a boy, it only seems a fitting place to wrap up a brilliant (if turbulent) career. If only his personality and scuffles with Mick McCarthy had not prevented him from shining more for his country, but that's water under the bridge.

Hope Adam is well in his cube, Vegard in his tank (still doing the military service??) and Ulli in his, well, land of many people (tried to get clever but it's exhausting). As for everyone else, you don't read the blog anyway, so you won't know that you got snubbed. Only kidding...saludos a todos.
