Clint

Hello,

This will probably be my last blog for a while. I hope I can send you some post and even if the authorities have lifted the ban on this site. So my flight plan is rather strange. First I'll fly to Copenhagen where I will stay overnight, then a flight to Helsinki where I'll stay for two hours and then a nine hour flight to Shanghai. There I'll stay for a day and the night after I'll fly to Nanchang. The I think it's around two hour drive to Gongqing.

Of everything else. I may have told you something about this but I wrote my thesis on Icelandic companies experience of expatriates. Well my "mentor" (don't know what you call it) teaches international business course in Reykjavík University and a friend of mine attends the summer course. Well she talked to my via msn the other day and said that he was quoting my thesis as a teaching material on her course. I am very proud.

Another thing. I guess everyone has seen the picture where the American soldiers are raising a flag in the WW2 in some Japanese island. Well they are now shooting a movie about the events on that isle (they use Iceland because this island and ours both have black sands). Well Clint Eastwood is the director and he's supposedly known for not liking much all the fanciness and he's staying at Icelands best hotel. So he contacts this guy about renting a house for a month and well now he's moved next street to me! I think it's cool!

Also a little more gossip. Ryan Phillipe supposedly went home with miss Iceland when the cast went out on the town. It's though through a very unreliable source and I'm going to tell you a couple of stories from this paper:

First there are two guys who host the Icelandic Idol and they where on this paper where they had a question list where one was suppose to answer the other ones questions. You get the drill. So there is the question: what is your most embarrassing moment. And the other one answers "when my father in-law walked in on me and my wife (making love)". Ok a pretty funny answer. But what was on the cover with a picture of one of the guys and his wife was. "Father in-law walked in on Simmi and his wife".

The other thing is that when shooting FooF there were alot of Icelandic extras. So they have this boatscene and one of the extras didn't quite enjoy the boat trip. So when the camera passes him his barfs like there's no tomorrow. Afterwards he was very embarrassed especially for ruinening the take and he hope it would be deleted within second. But no Clint just loved it so most likely it'll be in the movie.

Kind of reminds you of the guy who was looking for his arm in 'Saving Private Ryan'. The must have got more popular with the ladies afterwards.

That's it for a very long time,
Úlli

five days six nights

Next Monday around this time I'll be in Denmark.

In a week I'll be China.

So as you may guess time is a luxury I don't have at the moment. I want to say goodbye to all my friends but I don't time to spend a whole afternoon with the same person, wash clothes, arrange and so on and so on. I'm for example meeting this Chinese guy on Wednesday at six to get the names of all the Icelandic companies in China (I intent to make the most of this trip). Then I'll go directly to the National Stadium to see Iceland against South-Africa that way I can watch football and spend time with two good friends.

The thing I'm also looking forward to is quiting this job. It hasn't been much fun since I haven't got a thing to do or at least very little. I guess Tim knows the feeling. The thing is that I don't feel good about reading a book or surfing too much on the football sites. I somehow believe that people are thinking... "Doesn't he do anything around here", since everybody else is busy, they just can't pass their jobes on.

My girlfriend and one af my best friends are coming to visit me in China which will be very nice. It isn't that expensive also only around thousand dollars which isn't that much for people who have a steady job like many of my friends. So if you are in the neighborhood, send me line:).

Well that's it for now.

Regards,
Ingi Úlfar
