Batman Begins

Last nite I went to the movies to see the new Batman movie. I just have to say that it was a very good movie and is comparable to the first one. But I have to brag. A big part of the movie is 'shot' in Iceland. The scenes from where he's thrown out of the bus until he gets on the plane are all shot in Iceland and maybe before that also. You should have seen the crowd in the theater when they noticed everybody started talking among themselves. "hey this is Breiðadalshnjúk" "no no no this is Vatnajökull"... or something like that.

Recently I've been using the midnightsun alot. I went to play football until midnight yesterday and two days before that I've gone golfing, the first time at half past two in the morning. That is rather great.

There isn't really too much more to say so I'll see you

Independence day

During the last 7 working days (not including Friday since it's our independence day*) I have worked for one. The reason is that they gave me a small job in a small department but everybody else is so busy that they don't have time to teach me how to do their job. Instead of working I have listened to the intranet i-tunes read all the football (soccer) news there are in the world. I've blogged in two languages and try to find something out about the area of China I'm going to... which isn't a lot.

*somebody asked me about this few days ago and we got our independence from Denmark in the year 1944. Iceland always benefits from world tragedies since we work for other nations during wars. So the reason we got freedom was since Germany controlled Denmark. Little Icelandic history here.

So for this long weekend I got drunk twice and to my own surprise I wasn't that drunk the first time but quite the opposite the day after. There was this dinner/housewarming-party on this beautiful Saturday night. I brought a carrot cake me and Betty Crocket baked together. The party was a blast and thankfully I only got too drunk when I had arrived downtown. Some of the party members (sounds political) had a guitar and while they played it others sang. In the end the police came due to too much noise. That's a real Icelandic party.

Anyways back to searching football news.

News from Texas

I guess I promised to send in at least two blogs a week so I figured I could send you what is happening in Seema and Kat's life since I sent them both an email few weeks ago. I'll just let'em speak for'em selfs.

Seema:
I am about 3 weeks away from finishing my first year or medical school! I have my last final on May 26, and then I'll have a few days off for memorial day. (one of our holidays) Then, I'm taking a summer class, so I'll unfortunately have to stick around here. But, I think I'm going to take an Argentine tango class, which should be lots of fun. I'm also thinking about training at a yoga studio and getting my yoga teaching certification... we'll see... I don't get to go anywhere exotic... I guess my chance will come someday :)

Kat:
I also just finished with exams and will be graduating next Friday!!! I'll be heading to Washington D.C. for a week to visit some family and look for a job. Then I'm off to Ecuador for a summer internship with the Department of State, so I'll be working at the embassy in Quito. Hopefully by the time I get back in mid-August I'll have found a job. It's still up in the air.

I guess that's it for now.

Cop Cun Ca

Hey there,

Just got back from Thailand last afternoon. It was a long travel since we had to fly 10 hours from Thailand to Copenhavn and three from there to here. Last but not the least we had a 45 minute bus trip from Keflavík to Reykjavík actually the three hour flight was just as bad as the 10 hour one. Since we flew with a low cost airline. In the Iceland express you basically have to sit with the person in front of you in your lap.

I just bought myself an i-pod before I left so John Mayer saved much of the trip.

There are quite a few stories from there as I got my 24thth year over there. The Hilton we stayed at had these two horrible singers who sang every night at the Hotel bar. Well somebody asked for the happy birthday song and it was horrible I could have expected the regular happy birthday but man did they put it over the top. They sang this happy birthday medley... I wanted to disapear into the ground.

Also there was this one couple who got engaged. They have a 3 year old girl and alot of money so that was hardly a surprise.

Ok I have to go but somebody has to start blogging. I think I'll make a deal with myself to blog twise a week ... mark my words and bother me if I won't.

Hey I forgot to tell you... I graduate tomorrow... and congrats Tim

Later,
Úlli
